Collect soil samples in a way that is representative of the area/field you are testing.  For example, if a disease problem is suspected for one area of the field only, separate samples should be collected from problem areas and non-problem areas. We recommend taking several cores (subsamples) for each sample that will be sent for testing (see below).

• Collect samples to the depth of the root zone (most commonly 6-12”) of existing (or past crop) using a soil tube, auger, or spade.  

• Take 10-20 random samples throughout the area of interest and combine them in a bucket. Mix these subsamples very well, either by hand or using a clean shovel, then remove about quart size volume of the mixed soil into a ziplock bag for lab testing. Label the bag accordingly.

• Place the sample inside of a secondary container (styrofoam box or cardboard box).

• Download and fill in our soil submission form from our website at www.allcropsolutions.com. Choose the appropriate tests you want to run on your sample. Do not forget to mention about the current crop plant, and the plant species that you are planning on planting in this soil. If known, identify the previous crop as well. Place the submission form inside of the box with your soil sample.

• Add blue-ice packs into the box during hot summer months to prevent soil from overheating. Do not let the ice packs to touch the soil specimen! Insulate it with paper towels or newspaper.
